Dr. Levine and Dr. Stern both graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Levine in 1990 he did a 2 year preceptorship at Penn Podiatry and has been in private practice since 1992. Dr. Stern did a 5 year preceptorship at Penn Podiatry and went into private practice in 1992.

Services Overview

One of the most common misconceptions about podiatry is that we only cut nails and callouses. To become a podiatrist, one must go through 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of podiatry school and then postgraduate training from 1-3 years. We are trained as doctors of the feet. We can treat soft tissue and bone up to the ankle and soft tissue up to the knee.
Some of the most common issues we treat are;

1) bunions
2) hammer toes
3) diabetes
4) hypertension
5) gout
6) shin splints
7) plantar fasciitis
8) heel spurs
9) ankle sprains
10) painful corns and callouses
11) fungal infections of the skin and nails
12) excessive perspiration
13) warts

What most people do not understand about the feet is that they are the foundation of the body. If your feet do not work properly the rest of your body will follow. The example I use is the leaning tower of Pisa, since the foundation is sandy the whole building has been affected and leans. The same is for the human body. If the feet do not function correctly, every other joint does not function correctly. Since only 2% of the world population functions correctly the majority of the world is out of alignment in one way or another. A 5 degree change in the function of the foot, affect the ankle, knee, hips, lower back, spine, shoulders, neck and head, leading to a 1 degree change at the neck. This is why it is very important to take care of the feet.

One of the most efficient ways to control any misalignment is by the fabrication and utilization of custom molded orthotics. Most people have seen the advertisement for Dr. Scholl's custom orthotics that can be purchased in the store. These can actually be worn by thousands of people with the same foot type. A custom orthotic is like a pair of eye glasses. You got to the eye doctor get the examination and the optometrist makes the lenses and frames to your specific measurements. Custom orthotics are the same they are molded to your feet and designed for only you. No one else should wear these devices.
